Wildlife Viewing

This activity is the favorite of all Alpine visitors and residents. Our forests, lakes, streams, and mountain meadows host a variety of wildlife. It’s an excellent way to understand all four seasons as we witness the changing wildlife life cycle. Some of our resident mammals are: elk, deer, bear, mountain lion, bobcat, fox, coyote, reintroduced Mexican Gray wolf, raccoons, skunks, Abert squirrel,& chipmunks. Premier Alpine Citizens – “Bad Boys” or “The Dirty Dozen” – Group of bull elk who enjoy posing for tourists in “downtown” Alpine. Every summer you can count on seeing them.

The best wildlife viewing areas are Luna Lake Wildlife, Sipe White Mountain Wildlife Area, and Wenima Wildlife Area.
